Can non-members be seen at the clinic?
Our office does provide non-membership services for sports-related injuries, joint arthritis, and concussion evaluation and management. Additional services to members and non-members include Platelet Rich Plasma injections, Prolotherapy and Prolozone injections, hormone pellet therapy, and V02max cardiopulmonary testing. Our consultations, injection treatments, pellet therapy and fitness testing rates are reasonable priced. Please see this link attached for our menu of services and price list.
How Does a Membership Work?
OC Sports & Wellness offers an easy membership model. Qualified patients pay physician directly rather than through their insurance company. Our practice offers the full range of services for a flat monthly fee.

Patients receive enhanced services beyond what traditional fee-for-service medicine offers. Services include telemedicine visits by phone or video, extended visits, same-day or next-day visits for more urgent concerns, personalized attention by the same physician who can address most of your health care needs.

What are the benefits of membership? Improved access to a doctor that cares about you. Being an OC Member is like having a doctor in the family. Your doctor will always be in your corner, working to keep you as healthy as possible. At OC Sports and Wellness, we teach skills, rather than provide pills.

How is this practice different from traditional healthcare?
In place of a fee-for-service model, patients pay a monthly subscription fee. The result is a stronger patient-doctor relationship built on trust and transparency.

A focus of a membership model is that the doctor’s income no longer hinges on how often a patient visits the office and how many patients they see per day, as it is with the traditional “fee-for-service” model. Instead, the doctor receives payment for keeping patients healthy. With fewer patient visits per day, the physician has more appointment times available and more time to spend with each patient, including office visits, phone calls, text messages, and email communication.

In additional to providing conventional medical treatments such as prescription medications and referrals to specialists, we pursue a functional medicine approach as well. We take the time to listen to your story. We then address possible underlying causes, triggers, and mediators for your symptoms. And then provide a treatment plan often utilizing modifiable lifestyle factors rather than prescription medications.

Should I sign up if I’m healthy?
We work with you proactively to keep you healthy, it is hard to break out of the mindset of the insurance-based healthcare system. In the convention health care system, everything is centered around treating illness. If you are looking to partner with a medical team that understands your needs when it comes to access, affordability, and consistency, then sign up today. Having regular access to your physician is unheard of in today’s health care landscape. If you are bothered by having to wait weeks for an appointment, then wait for an hour in a waiting room only to be given 10-15 minutes of the doctor’s time while they type on their keyboard, then this practice model will be a breath of fresh air.

We work best with patients who have a healthy mindset. CEOs, entrepreneurs, and athletes are our avatars. We specialize in regenerative injection therapies to help heal frustrating injuries, manage your hormone deficiencies, help slow your aging process, help restore gut issues, and measure your fitness level.

What is included in my membership?
First and foremost, you will receive prompt attention to your health concerns by your personal physician. Calls to an off-site nurse who doesn’t know you will be a thing of the past. You’ll be able to see, text and talk your doctor for a low monthly fee with no copay. You will have expanded direct access to your doctor by phone, text, or email, and most in-office procedures are included. You’ll also enjoy longer visits with your doctor and specialty lab test result consultations at no cost. You’ll also receive discount pricing in-office injections therapies, hormone pellet therapies, fitness testing.
Are there additional costs other than my monthly membership fee?

Many in-office procedures are a part of your membership fee! Members will receive up to 20% off from cash services, including pellet therapy, injection therapies, VO2 max fitness testing, custom orthotics, and bracing.

Most membership practices have an established relationship with local laboratories and radiology centers; you can get blood tests, pathology screens, X-rays, MRIs, and more for low cash prices. Most membership practices dispense medications in-house at near-wholesale prices, so you can both save money and avoid extra trips to the pharmacy. Plus, as an OC Sports & Wellness member, you may be able to save a lot of money on insurance by switching to a high-deductible plan.

Why is it a monthly membership?
If it seems like everything is a subscription these days, that’s because it probably is! And with good reason: subscriptions are the best way for a business (of any kind) to offer high-quality service and support over a long period. The alternative is usage-based and itemized pricing, the same pricing scheme used by the traditional healthcare system. That didn’t work out so well for anyone. There are a hundred little perks of having an OC membership — the benefits are honestly too varied and rich to list in a menu of services. Paying your doctor for everything they do within your membership would be like paying Netflix for every episode of TV you watch. Who wants that?
Will I have to pay a fee for my office visits?

Your membership covers up to 15 office visits per year. There is no copay. The only time you will have to pay a fee is if you exceed 15 office visits per year.

Are you a walk-in clinic? Do I need an appointment?

While we can always offer same or next-day visits to our members, we do require scheduling all visits beforehand. A quick phone call or text to verify that we are free is usually all that is required. In most cases, we can address your medical concerns via phone or video chat from the comfort and privacy of your home or office.

How long are doctor visits?
Your visits last as long as you need! We schedule most clinic visits for 30-60 minutes, considering the number and complexity of medical issues. Continuing medical treatments may take multiple visits, but that is another great benefit of your membership — no copay!
What type of visits can I do by phone or webcam?

“Virtual visits” should be thought of as a supplement to good primary care – not a replacement for in-person care. Generally, if the issue does NOT require a physical exam, a virtual visit is fine. Many chronic issues (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, etc.) can be largely managed by email and virtual visits. However, any issue requiring a physical exam (e.g. coughs, sinus infections, ear infection, new pain, etc.) we will recommend a traditional clinic visit.

What if I need outside care? Specialists, diagnostic testing, ER, hospital?

We can order or refer just as any insurance-based doctor can do. For some outside services, we can help find reasonable “cash” prices if you are paying out-of-pocket – especially radiology and lab. We also have agreements with the most commonly referred specialists for deeply discounted cash prices. We can provide many urgent care and minor emergency services during regular hours that can help people avoid a trip to the ER. However, we do recommend having health insurance in the case of an unexpected, expensive event such as surgery, ER visit, or hospitalization.

Do I still need insurance if I have a membership?
Your OC membership is not an insurance plan; you’ll still need insurance. Health insurance is necessary to cover expensive health care bills that arise from visits to the Emergency Department, having a surgical procedure or becoming hospitalized.

If you do not receive health care insurance from your employer, you join a healthcare cost-sharing community like Sedera. To learn more about this medical cost sharing plan option, go to sedera.com, or contact our office and we can help guide you.
